It is with deep regret that we must report the death of Gerard Washnitzer, Professor of Mathematics, Emeritus, who died on April 2, 2017. Professor Washnitzer did his doctoral work at Princeton under Salomon Bochner, receiving his Ph.D. in 1950. After appointments at MIT and Johns Hopkins University, Professor Washnitzer was appointed to Princeton’s faculty in 1963 until he retired in 1995.
The University flag over East Pyne flew at half-mast in his memory April 5th through April 7th.
