Kitaev's Toric code is one of the first topological quantum error-correcting codes. Understanding the thermalization time of such systems is important for error correction and applications like Gibbs sampling. In this talk, I will show that the Toric code thermalizes rapidly at any positive temperature in 2D, and at high temperatures in higher dimensions. Furthermore, in 3D, stored quantum information decays rapidly at any positive temperature. This is joint work with Angela Capel, Cambyse Rouzé and Simone Warzel.
