In these lectures, I'll discuss some aspects of the HOMFLY-PT polynomial and its categorification, with an emphasis on geometry. Some topics I plan to discuss include the Hecke algebra; the Jones-Ocneanu trace and connections with the geometry of flag varieties; projectors, colored polynomials, and relations with the Hilbert schemes of points in C^2; and the HOMFLY-PT invariants of torus knots and rational knots.
